About the School of Business
The mission of the School of Business is simple, to do what we
do best, Business.
The school’s business centers on the fostering of the character,
intellect, and decision-making abilities of each student participant.
We “Take Care of Business” by focusing our entire program
on the lives of our students, their academic growth, and their place
in the business world. Our entire program will be based on business—an
understanding of business cycles, norms, environment, and practices.
We intend to carefully monitor and encourage every student to realize
the best of his or her potential within our small learning community.
Built on six years of success in the San Diego High School Academy
of Finance, the School of Business has expanded and improved a successful
small learning community. We believe that an understanding of the
business world, and a student’s ability to seamlessly transition
into it, represents a recipe for success that will serve School
of Business graduates well, whether they proceed directly to the
business world or toward a deeper course of study in post-secondary
education.
School of Business Vision Statement:
The vision of the School of Business is simple, to
do what we do best - business. The school’s business centers on the
fostering of the character, intellect, and decision-making abilities
of each student participant. Since the fall of 2004, we have been
“Taking Care of Business” by focusing our entire program on the lives
of our students, their academic growth, and their place in the
business world. Our program is based on business -- an understanding of
business cycles, norms, environment and practices. The School of
Business staff carefully monitors and encourages every student to
realize the best of his or her potential within our small learning
community. Built on six years of success in the San Diego High School
Academy of Finance, the School of Business has expanded and improved
the model for building a small learning community by connecting to an
accessible but challenging program of instruction delivered by a
faculty and staff that is consistent, fair and tenacious. Consistent
observations of the school’s learning environments, fair and balanced
assessments based on identified needs and standards, and a tenacious
promotion of the school’s “Habits of Mind” help drive the school.
Students are
encouraged to Take Care of Business, Take Ownership, and Take Charge,
a three part mantra which is understood by all stake holders on
campus.
